Spinach Dip


Spinach dip is a classic “MUST HAVE” hors d’oeuvre, appetizer, snacky food (whatever name you prefer to throw at it) for any get-together/holiday/random day that requires a good feast of snacks! I mean, HELLO…….. who doesn’t look for any way to get more sourdough bread into their lives?!?!?! That can’t just be me, right?

Buuuuuut, have you ever stopped and actually taken a look at the back of that ‘classic’ pouch usually mixed on in when making spinach dip??? Go ahead and take a peek on the ‘ol google machine or grab the pouch if you have one in your cabinet; you might be surprised to find there’s quite a lot of crap in that one little pouch!

Thanks to Trader Joe’s “21 Seasoning Salute” OR Kirkland at Costco now even has a “no salt 21 seasoning blend” there are better options for making a delicious spinach dip that you can feel good about devouring! Yes, it is a little different than the ‘traditional’ way; however, it is super tasty and just as quick to make!

Spinach Dip Recipe:

  • ~ 6 cups fresh baby spinach*, chop if you prefer tiny pieces in your dip

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  1. Place spinach and salt into pan over medium heat, stir as needed until spinach has wilted; about 2-3 minutes

  2. Let cool; use your hands to squeeze excess liquid from spinach

  • 1 cup aioli

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt OR sour cream

  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt, add to your preference

  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon pepper, add to your preference

  • 2 tablespoons Trader Joe’s 21 Seasoning Salute OR Kirkland Organic No-Salt Seasoning

  1. Add the cooled spinach and all other ingredients to a medium size mixing bowl

  2. Stir until everything is thoroughly combined

  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours for flavors to combine

  4. Serve with sourdough bread

    * Yes, you could sub a package of frozen chopped spinach for the fresh spinach; defrost and squeeze excess liquid from spinach before adding to other ingredients
